Development of sub-surface waters protection systems from technogenic pollution

A constantly functioning system of geo-filtration and geo-migration model of the Gomel region has been created at the Gomel State University named after Frncisk Scoryna. It includes:

models of sub-surface waters filtration in the basins of the rivers Uza and Randovka, in the zone of Gomel and the Gomel chemical plant water-pumping on the territory of Gomel;

models of transfer of pollutants by sub-surface waters in a water-pumping zones “Sohz”, the Gomel chemical plant, and in the basin of the river Randovka.

The system of models helps to make prognoses on conditions of sub-surface and surface waters of the Gomel region. It also helps:

to model the operation of hydro-technical structures, to maintain a hydro-dynamic regime and the quality of natural waters, of water exchange of nature-technical systems to purify sewage;

to make prognosis of sub-surface waters condition and transfer of pollutants by sub-surface waters into surface reservoirs, to check the quality of sub-surface waters at the water-pumping sites and at ecologically dangerous structures;

to assess the supply of sub-waters, the transfer of pollutants by sub-surface waters into surface reservoirs, to ground the ways and techniques to utilize sewage from the city territory and industrial structures;

to monitor sub-surface and surface waters;

to make projects on sub-surface and surface waters protection from technogenic pollution.

Methods of prognosis and new techniques of sub-surface waters protection made it possible to develop a system of sub-surface and surface waters protection from pollution in the neighborhood of the Gomel chemical plant.

The protection system has no analogues in the Republic of Belarus, it can be patented and tested. It is sure to help to use drainage waters in a water cycle of an enterprise, it will increase the durability of buildings’ foundations and engineering communications, will decrease water pollution in the region, will prevent pollution of main ware-bearing horizons of the city.

The system of models and system of protection of sub-surface waters in the neighborhood of the Gomel chemical plant has been carried out under the supervision of Associate Professor Zhoglo V.G.

The University makes research, provides engineering services in

adaptation of the developed system of geo-filtering and geo-migration models of the Gomel region for the needs of the buyers, in particular, to the tasks on prognosis;

development of systems of sub-surface and surface waters protection for enterprises and organizations of the region;

creation of systems of geo-filtering and geo-migration models for other regions of Republic of Belarus, Russia and other countries, using the research results;

development, on the basis of new models, systems of sub-surface and surface waters protection for enterprises and organizations of Republic of Belarus, Russia and other countries.

Transfer of patent rights, knowledge, experience, know-how on a contract basis is possible.
