One of the most significant problems for our primitive ancestors was focused on rekindling a fire and saving it for a particular time. However, modern scientists experience another problem: how to create and apply the fourth state of matter – plasma. Owing to its great potential we can use daylight and street lamps, feast our eyes upon bright neon signs and apply electronic devices. Plasma can be applied in a number of spheres of our life: chemical industry, machinery, medicine. Dumitru Luca, Professor of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania), visited our University and delivered a lecture for the students of the Faculty of Physics and Information technologies. His scientific research is devoted to plasma physics. The essence of its characteristics and ability to interact with different surfaces became a foundation or close partnership of Romanian and Belarusian physicists. Owing to cooperation of GSU and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University and their participation in Inter-Academia Association a number of joint research projects are available, as well as a number of programs of academic mobility and participation in conferences organized at the Universities – members of the consortium. An ability to organize a scientific and practical symposium on physics at Gomel State University was discussed during one of the meetings with Dumitru Luca at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
