On October 3 – 8, 2017 Berlin hosted a seminar for Belarusian lecturers “History of national socialism and the tragedy of Holocaust. Culture of memory” organized by Johannes Rau International Centre for Education and Exchange within the frame of the EU project on development of the professional contacts between Belarus and EU.

Francisk Skorina Gomel State University was represented by Head of the Department of World history, PhD (History), Associate Professor Stanislav Cherepko. Within the frame of the seminar Belarusian lecturers visited a number of museums and historical sites devoted to genocide in Germany during national-socialism. The scholars from Germany organized a number of workshops where they introduced the methodology of work with photos as a historical source and narrated about the peculiarities of Nazi propaganda in the 1930s.

At the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe the participants of the project “Protect remembrance” shared their experience with Belarusian pedagogues and represented their programme fulfilled at the territory of the Ukraine.

The seminar resulted in the experience exchange and establishment of the professional contacts between scholars from Belarus and Germany.
