Within a business-trip to Poland Dean of the Faculty of History Nikolay Mezga visited Krakov and one of the most prominent educational institutions - the Jagiellonian University, alma-mater of Belarusian scholar and the first East-Slavic publisher Francisk Skorina. During the visit N. Mezga was engaged in the negotiations with Vice-Dean of the Jagiellonian University Judith Radzinska-Nowak, where the scholars discussed prospective academic exchange and traineeships, as well as joint scientific research. An Agreement for cooperation between two Universities was prepared within this meeting. Soon afterwards it was signed and came into action. On October 19 – 21 GSU hosts a Republican forum “Skorina and the presence”, devoted to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing. The representatives of the Jagellonian University are expected to arrive as well, being a part of the educational institution that played an integral role in the rise of Francisk Skorina as a humanist. New contacts between the representatives of Gomel and Krakow Universities are intended to form further ways of partnership.
