More than 400 students of our University studying under the contract were given tuition fee discounts for 2017/2018 academic year. According to Statute on discount policy with reference to tuition fee for students and pupils of state educational institutions, enacted by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated May 26, 2006, discounts are allowed to the students who advanced in their learning and cognitive activities. This means that they have at least 50% 10 and 9, and other marks shall not fall below 6. University encourages students’ commitment to fundamental, experimental, scientific and research work. Their activities in scientific laboratories, study groups and research letters publishing are also taken into account. Students can get an additional financial bonus on their study-free time: they have got an opportunity to show their skills in public activities and students’ self-regulatory bodies, take part in youth public associations, cultural and sport events, volunteerism and student construction brigades. These students are allowed 60% discounts if their average grade goes above 9,0. If it varies from 8,25 to 9,00 the discount is 40%, from 7,46 to 8,25 – 20%. Students from needy and large families, orphans and children without parental care, students from 18 to 23, those who lost both parents during the period of studies, physically challenged students of I, II, III groups and those who are allowed discounts in accordance with Articles 18 – 23 of Law of the Republic of Belarus dated January 6, 2009 "On social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl accident, other radiation accidents" can get education cost reduction. GSU is the only university both of the region and the Republic offering the Chernobyl discount for 90% of the students. They can pay 40% less if their marks don’t fall below 6. Foreign students can get discounts for tuition fee, too. Their discount rate depends not only on their average grade during the academic year, but also on their participation in the scientific and social life of our University. Therefore, the average grade from 7,45 to 8,25 can guarantee 5% discount. 8,25 – 9,00 students will pay 10% less, and 9,00 – 10.0 are granted with 15% discount. This year GSU gave a discount to 13 foreign students. It’s worth mentioning that all the discounts and privileges are withdrawn if the student failed his exams, infringed the by-laws or broke the public peace.
