Prospective lawyers – participants of the Law competition of the Council of Europe

Students of the Law Faculty Konstantin Radionov, Stanislav Kovalyov and Eugene Lukashuk took part in the Law competition of the Council of Europe Erga Omnes. It was held at the recreation area «Dudinka City» on the bank of the river Berezina near Borisov. The Association of the International Law and Arbitration led by the Head Andrei Kozik was one of the coordinators of the Competition.

The Competition rounds were held every day to solve the current issues and task, work individually and in groups. Human rights, combating human trafficking and anti-corruption initiatives were the major issues of the meeting. The tasks were fulfilled within the frame of the real situations and particular practical issues. Fulfillment of the tasks was estimated by the experts who commented on it individually.

The Head of Council of Europe Information Point Larisa Lukina, the President of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment Nikolay Gnatovsky, the judge-counsellor of the EAEC Court Olga Rezvanova, the lead expert of an initiative by the European Union «Legal Impact Assessment, Drafting and Representation» Tina Goletiani. The lectures were focused on the collaboration between the Republic of Belarus and the Council of Europe, European Convention on Human Rights, instruments of the Council of Europe on combating human trafficking, etc.

The Competition programme included the line of special activities: sightseeing tour to the famous historic site on the bank of the river Berezina, where the Napoleon’s army was defeated in 1812; martial arts workshops on aikido, taekwondo and karate; making a campfire and rafting a river (34 km) and having a rest for a picnic, “The Great Race” competition and an acquaintance with Native American and Mongolian traditions.
