The Republican Pedagogical Council has brought together about a thousand teachers and heads of educational institutions from all over the country in Minsk on the eve of the new academic year.

Francisk Skorina Gomel State University was represented by the delegation headed by Rector, Professor Sergei A. Khakhomov, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs Yury V. Nikityuk and Vice-Rector for Science Igor V. Semchenko.

During the Council the experts were discussing a wide range of conceptual approaches to the development of the education system, a transition to compulsory general secondary education, the aims and purposes of the education system for the 2017/2018 academic year, as well as its development for the short-term (to 2020) and the long-term (to 2030s) periods.

Attention was focused on the modern approaches to the development of education quality, the main objectives of high school, the actual aspects of social, disciplinary, ideological spheres in the present context, teaching staff training, etc.

The Council was organized as a round-table session. The participants attended the exhibition of the effective pedagogical experience and creative achievements, educational and methodological materials and samples of modern education sector technologies.
