Council of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University on April 23, 2018 awarded Professor of Aalto University, Doctor of Technology, Professor Ari Sihvola the academic title of Honorary Doctor of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University for his major contribution to the development of scientific research cooperation between Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and Aalto University (Finland) within the frames of joint scientific and academic projects. GSU Rector Sergei Khakhomov conferred the certificate and a diploma to the scientist at the Council meeting.

Cooperation with the University of Finland has been established more than 25 years ago, and Ari Sihvola became the 24th person given the title of Honorary Doctor of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
