Prospects for cooperation between Belarusian universities and universities and organizations of Sudan were discussed at the meetings in the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Sudan. Vice-rector for academic work Igor Semchenko represented Francisk Skorina Gomel State University at these meetings.

The options for interaction between universities in the academic and scientific fields - attraction of students from Sudan to study at the State University, joint research and publication activities - were considered during the visit to University of Khartoum and Sudan University of Science and Technology.

The visit resulted in signing of protocols of intentions to establish cooperation with five universities in the Sudan - Sudan University of Science and Technology, Universities of Gezira, Al-Zam Al-Azhari, the Blue Nile Valley, western Kordofan. The preliminary agreements concerned the exchange of students and staff, joint research and mutual consultations, participation in seminars and academic meetings, implementation of special short-term educational programmes and projects, dual-degree programs, etc.
