Nowadays we can’t imagine our life without scientific and technological development and inventions making our life more comfortable and safe.

The birth anniversary of Benjamin Franklin is Kid Inventors’ Day celebrated annually on January 17th. This man went down in history not only due to his successful social and political activities, but also his inventor’s abilities. He invented the first swim flippers almost 300 years ago at age of 12, which are used by professional sportsmen even nowadays.

On February 1 Gomel State University hosted XIX open regional competition of pupils’ scientific and technological creative work “TechnoIntellect”.

Pupils of general secondary educational institutions, institutions of vocational and advanced education from Gomel and Gomel region participated in this contest. Team of Bryansk region joined it this year within the frames of international cooperation.

The participants had a guided tour across the laboratories of the Faculty of physics and information technologies, visited Gomel regional museum of military glory and attended leisure activities organized by Department of ideological work, culture and the youth of Gomel regional executive committee.

The results of the competition were announced on February 2, 2018. This contest became an opportunity for the youth to develop their creative abilities, unlock scientific and cognitive interest and do the groundwork of their prospective studies at the University and working career.

The competition included remote and in-person stages: theoretical part and scientific and practical conference on technical disciplines.

The winners of the competition got an opportunity to participate in the Republican competition of student’ scientific and technological creative work “TechnoIntellect” as members of the regional team.
