Official Japanese delegation visited Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. Among the delegation members were leading researches, academicians, students and PhD students of various Japanese universities. The primary purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the experience of Belarusian colleagues in rectification of consequences of territorial radioactive pollution and social security measures in the affected areas. The visitors learnt about the history of development of one of the largest universities of Gomel region, met with GSU students and academicians. Vice-rector for Research Activities Oleg Demidenko, Head of International Affairs Department Alexander Grahotsky, representative of Gomel Executive Department Ludmila Lisjuk, Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Doctor of Biology, professor Victor Averin attended the meeting. Dr. Averin has been engaged in the problem of radioecology and radiation safety for many years already. He is also a Radiation Safety International Committee Working Team member. Dr. Averin presented his report where he summarized his experience in the relevant area. The Japanese students were speaking about their experience during the Fucushima-1 disaster which happened 5 years ago. Since that this topic is of extreme importance for the whole country. The researchers were eager to answer the questions of Belarusian students. At the end of the visit the delegation members met with Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Sergei Khakhomov.
