The unprecedented project dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UN foundation was realized in Belarus from October 23 to October 30. In a special train «Express UN-70» which arrived to the all country regions the participants of this event present the information about the UN activities.

On October 27 the train arrived to Gomel. The representative delegation consisting of 16 members visited Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. In the reading hall they met with the academicians and students of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogics. Such topics as refugees and migration, reduction of inequality at the national and international level were discussed.

During the meeting with the honorable guests vice-rector for research activities O.M. Demidenko mentioned that such topical event was not occasional for GSU. Several years ago a computer linguistic class appeared on the basis of the Faculty of Philology where refugees and those who obtain the residence permit and become citizen of Republic of Belarus. Relevant topics are also discussed at the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogics.

Members of the delegation: Representative of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Republic of Belarus Jean-Ives Bouchardi, Chief of the Representative Office of IOM in Belarus Zeinal Gadzhiev, deputy manager of Department on citizenship and migration of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of Belarus Alexander Tatura, advisor on the juridical issues of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Timofey Solodkov, representatives of the local governing boards, representatives of frontier service and social organizations.

Jean-Ives Bouchardi mentioned that within the framework of the historical event – 70th anniversary of UN – this project is a specific platform for the communication of the all interested partners such as representatives of civil society, private sector, creative intellectuals, sportsmen.

The comprehensive discussion of the main topic of the meeting evoked great interest of its participants. The participants spoke about such problem as growth of number of refugees all over the world because of the war crisis which forces them to quit their native countries. Refugees from such countries as Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine, etc. come to Belarus as well. The participants came to the conclusion that in order to provide the solution to this problem the international community should follow the principles of sympathy, strengthening of cooperation and coordination of activities of state departments of international and non-governmental organizations.

As the Head of International Affairs Department L.I. Protchenko stated, about 600 foreign students study at the University. She also expressed her gratitude to the staff members of Department on citizenship and migration, frontier service and Department of Internal Affairs of Gomel Executive Committee for their assistance.
