Within the framework of Days of Korean culture in Gomel Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of Korea in Republic of Belarus Mr. Yang Zhung Mong visited Educational Institution “Francisk Skorina Gomel State University” where he met with the rector of the University, correspondent member of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus A.V. Rogachev. Then in the reading hall of the University building № 4 Mr. Ambassador lectured the students and academicians on the situation on the Korean peninsula and the perspectives of unification of both Koreas.

Before the meeting the diplomat expressed his gratitude for the possibility to communicate both with the academicians and students. He mentioned that it was a great pleasure for him to visit Francisk Skorina Gomel State University which has recently celebrated its 85th Anniversary.

The Ambassador reminded that Belarusian-Korean cooperation started more than 20 years ago. Cooperation in such spheres as politics, economics, education and culture is in progress. However, despite the mutual efforts, people both countries still know few things about each other because of geographical distance. He expressed his assurance that the visit of the Korean delegation to Gomel and the leading University of the region would stimulate further development of mutual cooperation.

The participants of the meeting had a chance to get the full idea of Republic of Korea both after the lecture and the demonstration of TV commercial made especially for the TV programme «Around the planet». After the lecture Mr. Yang Zhung Mong answered the incoming questions.

«In the nowadays world the ties are getting closer. If we recognize the differences, understand and respect the others, then the peaceful coexisting would be possible not only between Belarusian and Korean people, but in the whole world as well»,- mentioned Mr. Ambassador.

The guests from Eastern Asia, academicians and students had a chance to observe the fascinating concert programme, a kind of a cultural symbiosis presented on the stage of the University assembly hall. The performance by the vocal choreographic group «Radzimichy», different performance groups from Gomel, guests from Minsk, the owners of Audience Choice Awards of the festival of popular Korean music 2015 gave us the chance to get acquainted with Korean music, dances, Belarusian folklore vocal and choreographic traditions.
