Within the framework of the agreement with Yangzhou University (PRC) the delegation of College of Mathematical Sciences visited Educational Institution «Francisk Skorina Gomel State University». Among the members of this delegation were the vice-dean of the College of Mathematical Sciences Liu Jinlin, associate professor of the Department of Mathematical Analysis Huang Qianglian and the head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis Zhou Zhengxin. They visited the Faculty of Mathematics of one of the leading Universities of Gomel region in order to select the directions of further scientific cooperation of two educational institutions.

The history of cooperation between Gomel University and Yangzhou University started about 20 years ago. In October, 1998 a young Chinese researcher Zhou Zhengxin defended the Candidate`s dissertation under the supervision of professor, at that time Head of the Department of Differential Equations of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Vladimir Mironenko.

«At first she came to our University for study placement», - recalls Vladimir Ivanovich, - «and astonished us with her working capacity. She studied Russian language with admiring persistence, conducted research investigations. It was a great pleasure to work with such an industrious person».

During this visit to our University our foreign colleagues met the rector, correspondent member of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexander Rogachev, got acquainted with prominent students, master`s students and post-graduate students of the Faculty of Mathematics. Communication with the representatives and supervisors of different scientific directions of the faculty (Yurij Malinkovskij, Alexander Starovojtov, Adolph Mirotin, Alexander Vasiliev, Dmitrij Kuzmenkov, Valentin Mozharovskij) was particularly successful. The GSU academicians were speaking about themselves and about the spheres of their scientific interests. Despite the difficulties of translation, the communicators understood one another quite well because the language of the science is universal.
