Delegation from Japan visited Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The delegation members met with the administration staff members, academicians and students of the Faculty of Biology and Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogics. The purpose of their visit is the investigation of Belarusian experience in the sphere of rectification of the consequences of Chernobyl Nuclear Plant accident.

Our two countries are united by the single problem. In 2011 there was an accident at Fukushima-1 Nuclear Plant and the big territory became polluted.

First vice-rector S.A.Khakhomov presented the overview of our international cooperation, including the cooperation within the framework of association «Interacademia» (Belarusian and Japanese Universities are members of this association as well) and presented more precise information on the scientific cooperation of GSU with Shizuoka University.

The guests expressed high interest in the report presentation prepared by Dean of the Faculty of Biology, doctor of biological sciences V.S.Averin. The presentation contained the information about the activities conducted in Belarus and dedicated to the rectification of the consequences of Chernobyl disaster on the polluted territories, as well as interaction with population in order to reduce stress caused by the radiation pollution. Being an expert of a working group of international commission on radiation protection, V.S.Averin drafts the document regulating the development of emergency and post-emergency response system along with the researchers from the USA, France and other countries.

The foreign guests observed the exposition of the University museum and were impressed by the pictures and items of applied art presented in the exhibition hall.
