The author of a number of monographs, scientific articles and methodological pub-lications, including manuals for pupils and students.

A number of scientific study groups and laboratories functions at every chair of the Biological department. Their work is well organised and students can discuss the results of their researches and investigations here. The best reports are present-ed at the conferences and republican competitions and are recommended for pub-lication. Students are attracted to participate in scientific projects, including inter-national. At present time the chair of Botany and Plant Physiology realises two international projects: “Evaluation of radioactive and industrial pollution of coastal and poic ecosystems, their sustainable use and conservation in the border areas of Bryansk (Russia), Chernihiv (Ukraine) and Gomel (Belarus) regions”, and “Condition, sustainable use and protection of phyto variety of poic eco-systems of the floodplain of the river Dnepr of transboundary territories of Gomel (Belarus) and Chernihiv (Ukraine) regions” the scientific supervisor Sapegin L.M. Some students of the chair are also involved in project realisation.

The student volunteer units are formed at the chairs of Biological Department. For example, at the Chair of Chemistry there is a unit “Veteran”, which organises the events for veterans, looks after the veterans’ graves, and visits the children's homes.

At the chair of Botany and Plant Physiology there is a volunteer unit “Flora”. The members of this unit are engaged in ecological education of students, beautifica-tion of university territories, as well as of the territories of ecological-biological centre. The students-volunteers have participated in the Action “Let’s Save! Pre-serve! Create!” which consisted of three stages: “The youth is for clean nature”, “My yard” and “Green world”. They have also participated in nature conservation action “Marsh of parks”, which include several directions: informational-education, scientific, competitive, organisation of expositions and practical activi-ty.

38 informational-educational events on ecological topic took place in 2011 at schools, state preschool educational institutions.

During the period of functioning of scientific laboratory “Flora and plants” and volunteer unit “Flora” the students have got 13 letters of commendation, apprecia-tion and diplomas.
